A Christmas Fantasy Ballet
The absolute holiday favorite NUTCRACKER is a magical treat for the entire family. On November 25, 2009, at the Badminton Theater in Athens, the Mouse King, the handsome Prince, dancing snowflakes and life-sized dolls come to life with the grace and beauty of classical ballet. The charm of the children that participate in the show adds some fairy dust to the all time classic tale and draws the audience into this wonderful world of the NUTCRACKER.
Along with Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, NUTCRACKER is one of the three great ballet scores composed by Peter Tchaikovsky. The enchanting story is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s tale The Nutcracker and The King of the Mice. NUTCRACKER has been re-choreographed more times than any other ballet and the story has been adapted many times over the past 100 years. Universal Ballet’s version is adapted from the version choreographed by Vasily Vainonen in 1934, with further adaptations by Oleg Vinogradov.
