The U.S. Embassy in Athens in cooperation with the Hellenic American Union presents a lecture in English by the American journalist, activist, and author Evelyn C. White. The event is held on the occasion of the celebration of Black History Month, on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 19:00, at the Hellenic American Union Auditorium.
White is the author of Alice Walker’s biography. Walker is the first African-American female Pulitzer Prize winner for her novel The Color Purple. Walker’s book was also adapted into a film by Steven Spielberg and was nominated for 11 Oscars. In her lecture entitled The universe provides: Alice Walker, abundance and the art of biography, White will discuss the role of fate in one’s life, based on the life and work of Alice Walker and her own experience. You never know what destiny and the cosmic forces have planned for you. It is important not to be disappointed and give up when things are “not right”, mentions White. Adrianne Kalfopoulou, poet, Professor of English Literature and Director of Undergraduate Programs of the Hellenic American University, will present Evelyn C. White to the public.
