Student Housing 18 + Kerameikos – Metaxourgeio

The international architecture contest UPTO35 is an initiative by OLIAROS company for architects of up to 35 years old, for the design of an original student house in the areas of Kerameikos – Metaxourgeio, at a property on 34 Marathonos street. The contest will run from March 26 to April 4, 2010.

The participants presented new typologies, of a certain budget for the housing of 18 students , taking into consideration the possibility of repeating this typology to nearby pieces of land in order to create a new Student Center in that area. The contest gathered 242 proposals from 41 countries.

The jury committee selected five during the first phase of the contest in September 2009, and on January 2010 selected the winning team, 18 Steps from Portuguese João Prates Ruivo & Raquel Maria Oliveira who are based in Greece.

The exhibition will present the winning study, the five finalists, and even the rest of the proposals for the development of this student house, and will also feature material on the area and student dorms in general, as well as the results from the audience’s vote. The exhibition will run from March 26 to April 4, 2010.
