An International Conference
On May 6-9, 2009 the Department of Communication and the Media and Culture School of Panteion University are organizing an international new media conference at the Athens Concert Hall, entitled “New Media & Information: Convergences & Divergences.”
The conference objective is to address questions related to digital communication and its significance in the public domain, as they are both being shaped by states and politics, technologies, business activity, publishing initiatives and communities of citizens who utilize the Internet and mobile means of communication. It will explore the relationships among new media and modes of information, the conflict and convergence with traditional forms of information and the socio-economic consequences of these processes.
High level professionals including Eric Fottorino, President of the directory group of Le Monde, Javier Moreno, Director of El Pais, Jim Roberts, Editor of Digital News at The New York Times and Georgina Henry, Executive comment editor of Comment is Free/ Τhe Guardian, have been selected to address the various conference topics.
