The well-known and dramatic story between the fragile geisha Cho Cho San (madam butterfly) and the American officer (Pinkerton) is presented for the first time and only for five performances, at the Athens Concert Hall on February 26, 2010.
The atmosphere of the opera which is based on real facts has been captured magnificently through the impressive direction, the sets and the costumes by Nikos Petropoulos, and is sure to enchant the audience.
Madam Butterfly was first presented as a two-act opera in La Scala Milan on February 17, 1904. It was then revised into three acts for Brescia at Teatro Grande on May 28, 1904. The two-act play that is presented in our days is based on Puccini’s version for the Comic Opera theater company and was first presented in Paris, on December 28, 1906.
