RemapKM 2

The exhibition Land of Promise, running from June 16 to October 4, 2009, is part of the not-for-profit event RemapKM2 of the 2nd Biennale of Athens.

This exhibition aims to present works by artists that live and work or originated from the countries of South-Eastern Europe and the wider area of the Mediterranean. The artists are invited to comment through their work on the influence of American culture and its products in countries that are not economic centers and do not use the Anglo-saxon language. The main goal of the exhibition is to show through this common pivot the way in which the American culture identity has infiltrated the consciousness of the people of these countries as the ideal identity, and many times as an ideal pattern.

Among the participating artists is American Doug Fishbone who has had numerous solo exhibitions at the following venues: ICA London, Hayward Gallery, Beacon Project Linconshire, Locust Projects Miami, Oeen Group copenhagen, Gimpel Fils London, Freight and Volume New York, Trafalgar Square Project London, National Gallery Costa Rica, Galleria Hollaender Equador, etc. He has also participated in many group exhibitions in: “Laughing in a Foreign Language” Hayward Gallery London, Latitudes, NYCAMS New York, Video Art and Cinema, Gate Picturehouse London, European Triennial Slovenia, 100 videos-100 days GL Strand Copenhagen, Freud Museum London, Heidelberger Kunstverein Germany, Weirkleitz Biennale, Moscow Center of Arts Russia, Platform Garanti Center Istanbul, Courthauld Institute of Art London, Zero Gallery Milan, 11th Biennial of Moving image Geneva, Centro Cultural Telemar Brazil, etc.
