How Alain de Botton Can Change Your Life

Invited by the Hellenic American Union and Patakis Publishers, the renowned writer delivers a lecture for the first time in Athens, on the occasion of the publication of his new book, “The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work”, on November 12, 2009 at the Grande Bretagne Hotel.
Born in 1969 in Zurich Alain de Botton now lives in London. His books have been translated into more than 25 languages and have been bestsellers. Among his books are: Essays in Love (1993), How Proust Can Change Your Life (1997), The Art of Travel (2001), Status Anxiety (2004) and The Architecture of Happiness (2006). His books discuss various subjects of philosophical interest with an emphasis on their relevance to everyday life. His writings have been considered an effort to make philosophy more comprehensible to the broad public. Haris Vlavianos, poet and director of the journal Poiitiki, will present the writer to the public.
