A Funny and Surreal Comedy for English Speaking Kids in Athens
The Cambridge Art Gallery is anxiously awaiting the arrival of art expert Lord Sandwich, who’s going to examine three of the museum’s most valuable exhibits to determine their authenticity: the portraits of Napoleon, Mona Lisa and Alexander the Great. But are the paintings fake or too real to be true? English-speaking kids in Athens can get the answer at the Katerina Vassilakou Theatre in Gazi, where the English Theatre Club gives the hilarious performance Don’t Believe your Eyes every morning until the end of the theatre season, for the young and those who still feel young.
Well, what happens onstage is quite surreal. The three portraits in question come to life, Lord Sandwich is a fraud and the gallery’s director Mrs. Duvall is in a trolley-go-jolly spirit… A happy mess for everyone. Kids laugh out loud and so do their teachers and parents.
The English Theatre Club was launched in 1990 as a theatrical workshop for teaching English through drama and has since performed over a hundred plays in theatres, parks and schools. Since 2004, the English Theatre Club has also been an acting ensemble of international actors and experienced teachers which produces plays and puppet shows for children all ages.
