The … Lady of Jazz singing

She is one of the leading voices of jazz and as a contemporary singer she has a unique style that smoothly combines the funky element of Aretha Franklin with the brilliance of Ella Fitzgerald and the colors of Sarah Vaughan. Beyond being a singer though, Carmen Lundy is a composer, a songwriter, an actress and also a very good painter. She has been in the jazz scene for over three decades – having started music at an early age, playing the piano and singing gospel and spiritual music. But what really attracted her was the brilliance of soul jazz, as expressed by Dionne Warwick, Roberta Flack and Stevie Wonder. In the late ’70s she began singing with the orchestra of Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, and then she played with the elite of contemporary jazz musicians like Don Pullen, Kip Hanrahan, Courtney Pine, etc. During the middle ‘80s, she began distributing her own music and her enormous talent got noticed. Since then the path of Carmen Lundy is expanding continuously at all levels and she is now considered to be one of the world’s  leading jazzwomen…
