The biggest and most important film event of Athens is planning this year’s program as an antidote to the misery of nowadays, believing that film is the most optimistic form of art. The art of travel and escape.

The 16th Athens International Film Festival is getting ready at full speed to welcome its audience between September 15 to September 26, 2010.

The Festival sections

The International Competition Section will feature films by young directors who will try to win over the Youth Committee, comprised by students from various European film schools, between 18 and 25, that will decide which film will get the Golden Athens award, accompanied by €10,000.

The Youth Committee will also present the Award for Direction of the City of Athens, and the award for Best Script. Like every year, the audience will decide who gets the People Award, by voting after every screening.

Golden Athens is also the name of the award for the Music & Film Competing Section, which is also accompanied by €10,000. The Jury Committee that will decide on the award is comprised by renowned journalists from all over the world.
