The historic Hermoupolis in Syros welcomes international arrivals in the framework of the greatest Greek animation festival!

For a third consecutive year the Animasyros 3.0 animation festival + forum returns to Ermoupolis from September 30 to October 3, 2010!

The commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, October 1 at the Apollo Theater, with music by the Ermoupolis band and maestro Alis Lambars.

Screenings

The historic Apollo Theater opens its gates to host screenings of films from over 20 competing countries, such as France, Germany, Denmark, G.B, U.S.A., Egypt and Iran. Compare to last year, participations for the competing section have doubled and 60 films in total have been selected for screening.

Animasyros 3.0 will kick off the screenings with the multi-awarded and Oscar nominated film, Coraline.

Tributes (to the Goethe Institute in Athens, the Canterbury Anifest taking place every year in England, and The Animation Workshop, a Danish cultural organization), Workshops and Business Forum.

With the support of the U.S. Embassy in Athens, the festival welcomes awarded director Gesine Krätzner, representing one of the greatest animation studios in the world, LAIKA Animation Studios, on Saturday, October 2. Building animation characters and developing the surrounding environment is going to be the focus of the presentation. The environmental film “Once upon a tide” will also be screened outside the competing section. In the framework of the LAIKA House presentation, Alise Munson, the company’s brand manager will reveal smart ways to promote and advertise your work. www.laika.com/house
