Music-Theatre Performance
The Hellenic American Union in cooperation with ″Oneiro Company″ present on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 18:30 at the auditorium of the Hellenic American Union a music – theatre performance for children entitled ″True story… a journey to other shores.″ The performance is based on an idea by Alessandra Maioletti, who is also the director.
The performance is a theatrical adaptation of Lucian´s text ″True Story, ″ translated by Dimitris Kalokyris and adapted for the stage by the ″Oneiro Company. ″ The performance will be in Greek.
Having in mind Homer´s Odyssey, Lucian brings us along for a journey in a mythical universe of stellar trips, heroic battles in the galaxy, and encounters with monsters and extraterrestrial beings. The performance includes musical references from the Mediterranean, the Orient, the cold North and central Europe, interwoven with short, atmospheric, narrative scenes, dramatized in a modern and plain style.
The performance familiarizes the audience with a significant, ancient writer, Lucian, whose work set the basis of a new literary form, that of science fiction.
